Spider Bite
Last Sunday afternoon I powerwashed my deck. I was bitten on the right calf by something, probably a spider. There is an assortment of other insects living in the cedar wood floor planks including ants and wasps and who knows what. The bite itself was not painful and I was not concerned at the time. Four days later I noticed a large red circular bullseye anomally at the sight of the bite. It became more painful and was warm to the touch. As the evening wore on I started to have Flu like symptoms. The affected area measures about three inches in diameter. On Friday I made an appointment with a Doctor for Saturday morning. She perscribed anti- biotics and a five day steroid regimen. As of today I feel much better and almost back to normal. Apparently toxin entered the bloodstream affecting the Lymphatic system causing the Immune system to work especially hard. Generally these types of bites affect tissue causing a painful blister to erupt. Nasty stuff, check out pictures on line.
The bite directly affected my training runs on Tuesday and Wednesday. I felt each of the runs were very labored, Thursday's run especially so. I took it real slow over the weekend and today I felt much stronger. |
